WNBA: Fever vs Sky (Pre-Season)
The Indiana Fever hosted the Chicago Sky in Bankers Life Fieldhouse. This matchup marks the 1st game hosted in Bankers Life since September 8th, 2019. Tiffany Mitchell & Chelsey Perry led the Fever each scoring 16 points in the Fever's 82-65 Victory vs the Chicago Sky on Sunday. Kelsey Mitchell scored 14 points while Teaira McCowan & Victoria Vivians both dropped 12 points.
The Fever finished the first half with a 37-32 lead with Kelsey Mitchell leading the Fever in scoring 10 of her 14 points. She wasn't able to contribute much in the second half due to the Sky's double teaming defense leading her to commit 5 fouls early in the 3rd Quarter. Thankfully, Fever Veteran Tiffany Mitchell was able to lead the team in the second half scoring with help from Rookie Chelsey Perry & returning Center Teaira McCowan.
Ultimately, the Chicago Sky didn't have the consistent offensive firepower to hold off the young and hungry Fever. Kahleah Copper led the team in scoring with 14 points before leaving the game during the 3rd Quarter with a lower leg injury. Center Stephanie Dolson was the only other Sky player with 10 or more points.
Overall, I witnessed a lot of raw talent on this young Fever Roster. Head Coach Marianne Stanley has potential with this team scoring a game securing 45 points in the second half. Combined with 49 Team Rebounds & 21 Team Assists, the Indiana Fever appeared to leave no chances for the Chicago Sky to steal the W. However, I'm a little concerned with the 15 Team Turnovers & 20 Personal Fouls. Combine those factors with poor shot selection and lazy passes in traffic, The Indiana Fever would lose against true Title Contending Rosters.
