After A Sunday Home Victory vs the Mystics, the Indiana Fever hosted the Washington Mystics in Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Tuesday night. Jessica Breland, Tiffany Mitchell & Danielle Robinson led the Fever each scoring over 10+ points in the Fever's 69-85 Loss vs the Washington Mystics on Tuesday. Tiffany Mitchell scored 11 points while Jessica Breland & Danielle Robinson both dropped 10 points.
The Fever finished the first half trailing 49-35 with Jessica Breland & Tiffany Mitchell leading the Fever back into the game after suffering a 20 point deficit before Halftime. The Mystic's 50% Shooting from the field combined with the Fever’s 13 Turnovers kept the Fever trailing throughout the entire game.
Ultimately, the Washington Mystics dominated the entire game with the consistent offensive threat to keep the Fever fighting to catch up the entire game. Tina Charles led the team in scoring with 30 points. Guard Ariel Atkins also contributed with 18 points& 4 Assists.
Overall, I witnessed a severe lack of defense both inside the paint as well as the perimeter. Poor shot selection continues to plague the Fever. The 4th Quarter was the only time I actually felt the Fever shut down the Mystic‘s Offense with effort being rewarded with points scored. However, two minutes into the 4th Quarter, the Fever failed to capitalize off of their defensive efforts. The Fever put together a total of 33 Team Rebounds & 21 Team Assists. However, I'm a little concerned with the 43% Shooting. Only 3 Players scored over 10 points. In my opinion, the offense was stagnant and at times non-existent. Overall, If the Indiana Fever doesn't improve perimeter defense & set the offensive pace early in the game, they will turn a promising season into another season left with fans expecting more.
